Jordan Witte

Currently studying Sports Journalism at LaTrobe University, Jordan is (without any careful research done) the youngest contributor to Onya Magazine. He picked up his first book at age two (admittedly, it was something about Paddington Bear) and has never really stopped reading. He harbours dreams of being paid to travel and write. Or perhaps even write about travelling. In his spare time, he rambles about football on SYN FM, pays the bills with a job in public health, and enjoys nothing more than standing in the outer with a few like-minded mates throwing back some overpriced beer and watching the mighty North Melbourne Kangaroos sweep all before them in the AFL.

Let players speak their minds

There is some merit to Mark Robinson’s statements about the mental health and wellbeing of AFL players. Following champion Collingwood midfielder Dane Swan’s comments about how negative scrutiny surrounding his private life had affected both him and his family, Robinson suggested that players receiving abuse via social media could lead to players in the AFL [...]

Cloke's TV deal attracts scepticism

Considering the large amount of time it took for pen to meet paper with Collingwood, it’s exceptionally hard not to be sceptical of Travis Cloke’s new five-year deal with Channel Nine. Before examining the TV deal, it’s important to remember that Cloke held Collingwood to ransom over his playing contract in 2012, dragging out discussions [...]
